Courage curiosity & kindness with Marc from Montreal

Mon, 18 Aug 2025
Hi Aaron and thanks for considering me for the podcast.

I am totally blind since birth, due do premature retinopathy. I was born in 1956 at Reddy Memorial Hospital here in Montreal. I lived on the south shore in the city of St. Lambert for most of my schooling years and was a student at the Montreal association School for the blind which became Philip E. Layton school. I attended public high school after that and then went on to Acadia University in Wolfville NS. For two years and then took a broadcasting course in Halifax and eventually landed a job at CIGO in port Hawkesbury NS where I worked for two years and eventually got laid off in the true tradition of The maritime Provinces and then went out west to Edmonton Alberta where I eventually preformed various clerical functions such as switchboard, job order advisor for employers placing ads in the national Jobbank and other functions for both the Feds and then The province of Alberta. I retired and came back to Montreal, the place of my birth due to my late X wife’s physical abuse, her incontinence and my health and wellbeing; I had friends here from my time at the MAB in the 60’s and two brothers here as well. I’m am involved with the users committee for the Lethbiridge, Layton Mackay rehab centre (the former MAB) The Quebec Federation for The Blind and other advocacy groups, and I’m also an advocate for Braille usage, for the blind and other disabilities. My partner Sandy uses a motorized chair to get around (she is sighted) we use Transport adapté but public STM transport where possible and where the Metro stations are accessible to her.

I am a first time applicant for a guide dog and am applying to five different schools, one in Quebec.

I want to specifically talk about my life as a blind person where I have always considered myself that blindness was, and still is an inconvenience but not an obstacle. I want to talk about men abused by their significant others because no help is available and we are considered by society to be worse’s. I want to talk about the best part of my career working in radio and reflect on my work as a government employee and how I was treated.

You have my email, I am also on facebook as marc Baillargeon-Molloy (sandy’s last name although we’re not legally married) I use I message email and WhatsApp primarily and am not a big fan of FB or messenger.

I prefer afternoons or evenings and can be available for you any time but I do have a commitment for a Shakespeare in The Park Event Thursday night.

Looking forward to hearing from you and to participating on your podcast. It’s thanks to my wonderful friend Kayla Puderer who encouraged me to do this and who first contacted you on my behalf. She is so amazing and i truly love her dearly.

Take care and talk soon; you can call me if you like.

Al the best!

The road of improvement with Rob Castrogiovanni

Tue, 12 Aug 2025
ok, now I understand what you need, so here's my about me on my facebook profile. hope it works. sometimes it won't let me copy everything for some reason.  Hi, my name's Rob Castrogiovanni, I'm a blind singer/songwriter from London Ontario. always loved the guitar, I started playing piano at 8 years old. got my first guitar when I was 15. also play harmonica, which I picked up when I was about 5 or 6, I remember my inspiration was Bob Dylan. I made my first CD in 2009, it was just a demo, but hoping to make either a full aCD, or an EP in the near future. I'm a nice guy, but don't take any bullshit from anyone, I tell it like it is, which sometimes gets me into trouble. anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask.all though I'm totally blind, I don't let it hinder me what soever. I'd love to start playing gigs hopefully all over Canada, and maybe the world. my main goal is to be recognized by the right people, that understand my talents, and will let me go where I wanna go in this crazy music biz.I'm also writing my memoires, behind the walls of W. Ross, memoirs of a lonely kid. this book is about the abuce I faced at a blind boarding school, and how it was delt with, or rather wasn't delt with, and the trials & tribulations about all of it. when it'll be finished, I can't say, as I wanna make sure it'll be good enough to get published. like my music page,

Tamer’s victory

Fri, 08 Aug 2025
Dear Aaron’s Opinions Podcast,
My name is Tamer Zaid, and I'm the author of the recently released book, Blind War. I'm reaching out because I believe your podcast, Aaron’s Opinions, would be an excellent platform to discuss some of the themes and insights from my new work with your listeners.
Blind War is a compelling autobiography that recounts the author's journey through adversity as a blind Palestinian navigating life in America. It chronicles his battles with internal and external conflicts, from health challenges like leukemia and blindness to cultural identity struggles and societal expectations. My aim with this book is to highlight the unwavering support of family, the resilience of the human spirit, and the power of faith and determination to overcome life's most daunting obstacles.
I'm confident that a conversation about overcoming adversity would resonate well with your audience. I'm prepared to offer my perspective on how going through hardships can make you stronger as a person as you realize what you did and how you can fix it so that other people can learn from you. You can become an example to other people. The reason I wrote my book is that I wanted to inform my readers what I went through so that it could help them in the long run.
I've been a longtime admirer of Aaron’s Opinions s in depth and thought provoking interviews. I believe my expertise in overcoming hardships aligns well with your content.
You can find more information about me and Blind War here:

I am available for an interview at your convenience and am happy to work with your schedule. Please let me know if this is something that interests you, and we can discuss potential topics further.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Tamer Zaid

From the computer to the chessboard to the amateur radio universe with Gabriele

Sat, 02 Aug 2025
Here I am, as promised, with a few words about myself and my life. I am 50 years old, and I have been blind since birth due to bilateral congenital glaucoma. I spent the first 6 years of my life on a forced tour of many hospitals across Europe. My father worked 14-hour days at sea, and my mother was very young, just 21, spoke only Italian, and was very shy with little formal education. And I never slept, moving between one operating room and another, an experiment for medical students and various surgeons.

After finishing my mandatory schooling, I moved to Bologna. I taught myself computer science, some English and Spanish for traveling, and I started to get around. Africa, India, Thailand, Madagascar, the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. I got to know many other blind people and started with BXC (Baseball for the Blind), which was invented here in Bologna in 1994. I got my amateur radio license in 1996, was assigned the call sign IZ4APU, and immediately became a huge enthusiast of CW (Morse code), which I practice almost exclusively.

But my greatest passion is technology, computer science, the future, automation, languages, and programming.

I'm a fan of Star Trek and good science fiction in general. I'm an avid reader of books and a listener of podcasts.

I am not married, and I don't believe in marriage. I'm curious about the idea of being a father, but I'm also doing fine as I am now, without a partner or children: you can do what you want without having to lie and without cages made of invisible bars. I've had many romantic relationships, but I never wanted to walk the conventional path that the world expects everyone to follow. As a person, I consider myself very unconventional: sincere to an almost pathological degree, profoundly free. I thrive on the fascination of ideas and the beauty of their interplay; this is also why I believe chess is the most beautiful game ever invented by man.

All the best,

Gabe.
